Meet Vanessa
Vanessa helps people who need wheelchair-accessible transport further than a normal local service may take them. She personally drives and supports every client, whether the destination is elsewhere in NSW or further interstate.
If you need to get to Sydney, Newcastle, Brisbane, Melbourne or somewhere else entirely, tell Vanessa where you want to go.
Qualified Assistant in Nursing accompanies every trip
Help available throughout longer travel
Bathroom, meal and rest stops can be planned
Family member or carer can travel too
Long-distance disability transport is a major focus
Long-distance wheelchair transport is not only about whether a wheelchair fits inside the vehicle.
Vanessa understands that someone travelling for several hours may need a bathroom stop, help with personal care, a meal, a break or simply somebody who notices when they are becoming uncomfortable.
She has worked in community aged care for 17 years and is a qualified Assistant in Nursing.
What You Can Expect From Vanessa
Help At Rest Stops Bathroom, meal and comfort stops can be planned around the passenger. Vanessa can provide practical assistance during the stop rather than simply waiting in the driver's seat.
Travel With Or Without Your Own Carer
A client can travel with Vanessa alone or bring a family member, companion or existing carer.
A Trip That Still Feels Personal
Vanessa wants the passenger to be part of the trip. You can talk, listen to music, put on a podcast, enjoy quiet time or choose somewhere comfortable to stop.
The Same Person Stays With You
Vanessa personally provides the transport and support, giving clients consistency throughout the trip.

Questions People Often Have
Do you provide long-distance and interstate wheelchair transport?
Yes. Long-distance wheelchair-accessible transport is a major focus of Custom Care. One-way, return, interstate and, by arrangement, multi-day journeys can be discussed.
How much does long-distance wheelchair transport cost?
Long-distance transport is priced from $2.40 per passenger kilometre, together with a journey planning and booking component and any agreed additional costs associated with the trip.
Every trip is quoted beforehand. There is no taxi meter or unexpected fare calculation during the journey.
What can affect the final price?
The quote may take into account:
Pickup and destination
Total travel requirements
Travel time and distance
Vehicle travel required to complete the booking
Waiting or accompanying time
Individual care requirements
Tolls or parking
Overnight requirements for extended trips
Can I stay in my wheelchair during the trip?
The Kia Carnival has been professionally converted to allow a wheelchair user to travel while remaining in their wheelchair. Because wheelchair sizes and configurations vary, Vanessa will confirm the equipment details before accepting the booking.
What support is available during a long trip?
Support can include help to and from the vehicle, mobility assistance, comfort and rest breaks, meals and refreshments, luggage assistance, medication prompts where appropriate, general personal support and help navigating hospitals, airports or other destinations.
Is this an ambulance or medical transport service?
No. Custom Care provides non-emergency wheelchair-accessible transport and support. Vanessa is a qualified Assistant in Nursing, but the service does not replace nursing, paramedic, ambulance or emergency medical care. Significant clinical or medical needs should be discussed before booking so Vanessa can determine whether the service is appropriate.

If you have assumed somewhere is simply too far away because you use a wheelchair or need extra support while travelling, it may be worth asking.
